Might be heaven

from Machete by Johnathan Martin

/

about

The first track, from my second solo record. I was hurting after being dropped, or fired, by my band mates in Jack Hammer for some stupid infraction. Probably quite angry I wrote a few songs and then a few more, and all of a sudden there were 9 songs. A very different vibe from the 2006 "In my blood", but there is something very special about this album, and this song ' Might be heaven"is a tribute to life, and how insignificant and powerful we are at the same time. Also telling the story of how we make grand plans only to have the universe intervene and your plans are diverted, or even sometimes dismantled.

lyrics

Hesitate to never know,
walking in the rain,
Your lover smiles to make you glow,
To play a dying game....

Simple things to set you free,
they're harder to find,
a better world without a doubt
you know I'll never see...

Chorus:
---------

Just when you've seen it all,
they come to take you away,
With loads and loads of guns,
Might be heaven to you...
Might be heaven for you...

The air we breathe the ones you love,
I haven't taken the time,
Of all the things you'd never want,
now we're left behind

Here in hell we love the dice,
and its easy to sell,
You're nothing but a piece of flesh,
under the longing saw...

Chorus:
---------

Just when you've seen it all,
they come to take you away,
With loads and loads of guns,
Might be heaven to you...
Might be heaven for you...

Endless sea with no cause,
a spell of illusion
Ripping out the Man,
off his thrown,
and the violence to lean on....

mandolin solo

Endless sea with no cause,
a spell of illusion
Ripping out the Man,
off his thrown,
and the violence to lean on....
