Everything and nothing

from In my blood by Johnathan Martin

/

about

I was commissioned to write a song ,but using a South African poet as inspiration. So I chose 'Robert Bolton' from 'Port Elizabeth', his art was dark yet strangely optimistic. I was living with this strange girl who would run to the bathroom with a large kitchen knife and start cutting herself every time we had fight or slight argument. Naturally I ran for the hills, took cover, incoming mortar fire!! Jokes aside, I wrote the music and second verse at the kitchen table one stormy night, just after my nightly dose. I was in a really relaxed space, the one I love to be in all the time, and it flowed. It's the truth and it hit me like a sledgehammer. Everything and nothing has fucking changed!

lyrics

Everything has changed,
Since Thursday last,
when I was the sky.
Who could encumber me,
from your hinterland to the sea.

Everything and nothing has changed,,,,

Rainbow leaves,
they fall on me,
and cover black holes.
Who would uncover me ,knowingly,
and walk through winter with me?

Everything and nothing has changed
