This one was a magic moment where everything fell into place in one sitting. I had a lot of time on my hands during this period of my life, and was using it to practice my finger picking style, as well as drop D tuning. I loved the Key of Dminor, and was messing around with a piece of music when the global battle for oil and money hit me like a ton of bricks. also the lives it ruins, the environmental catastrophes, and the dictators it fuels.(pun intended)
I've tried to be a on the fence kind of person when I was younger, but that all changed when I took my first history lesson on ww1. From then on, the gloves were off.
lyrics
Its strange the way they find it hard to see our world on fire?
The man must know, we'll turn diamonds to snow, as to when , we'll never know..
No fear of hell it's mine to sell, and yours I'll steal for me,
and time stand still for those who feel, this land belongs to all.
No heart beats for free,
the rebels are never true,
we're drowning in the fields,
The bloody smell of the oil well...
To reap the flow , my name is known,
the pipes of war are strained,
the face of shame will rise from men,
while ghosts of time they await...

Born in 1977 in South Africa, to a musical family, Johnathan Martin started to picture himself as performing musician from
the tender age of 10 tears old. Classical guitar, then piano, and finally getting his first Strat copy at 13 years old. Taking music as a subject at school put the cello in his hands, and learnt to really improv when he joined the full time touring band Jack Hammer in '97....more
Its got that 'stab you in the heart' effect when you listen to it. It might even take a few listens to get that feeling, but believe me when it hits, you'll know my meaning and thank me!! enjoy! Johnathan Martin
